Incident Description

Between 29 Jul 2025 and 31 Jul 2025, there were inconsistencies between the APM Onboarding guide due to partially completed content updates. More specifically, the regions DE, EU and US, were showing some wrong milestones and tasks in the onboarding guide.

Incident Resolution

Gradually, the content was updated for the affected regions DE, EU and US.

Root Cause Analysis

The content updates had to be done per region. Individual updates took long to complete and some of them failed on larger regions with timeouts. This took time to work around and resolve.

The underlying issue is that guide content updates need to be done for individual regions and require modifications to the database.

Preventative Measures

We are currently working on introducing a new architecture for the guide. It will include a new update mechanism that prevents similar incidents in the future.

Investigating

In the course of releasing updates to steps and metrics in the APM Onboarding Guide and Dashboard, an error occurred, with the result that a new milestone "Add relations" could not successfully be added to goal 2 "Add data to your workspace" for the regions US, DE and EU. Furthermore, in workspaces of the EU region, the task "understand relations" could not be deleted from the milestone "add applications".
